A wall hung with RalenArc's generative and physical works

I have been making art for more than 18 years. I started with physical work: canvas painting, murals, and clay. I still move between those and code.

My work is inspired by texture and organic form: my surroundings, the places I visit, and the things I experience.

Every piece begins on paper. I always start with sketches for reference. Those sketches become rules, the rules become a system I build in p5.js, and the result can end up inscribed on-chain or painted on canvas.

My on-chain work spans Ethereum, Bitcoin, Tezos, and Shape, released through Sotheby's, Art Blocks, Bright Moments, Feral File, Foundation, and fxhash. I have shown at NFT Paris, NFT NYC, the Bitcoin Conference, and Blockchain Rio, during Miami Art Week, and in galleries from New York to Singapore, Amsterdam, Venice, Berlin, and London.

Sketch becomes rule. Rule becomes code.

01

Sketch

Every piece starts on paper. I always start with sketches for reference.

02

Rules

The sketches become a set of rules the composition has to follow.

03

Code

The rules become a system built in p5.js, tuned until each output holds.

04

Color

Texture, color, and organic form resolve the piece. Sometimes I can feel when it is done.

Sometimes I can feel when it's complete. Other times something is missing, and I keep adding.
